Things to know before applying adsense
You can display adsense on your web site to make some money. But, before displaying adsense on your site, you need to apply for it and get accepted.
Before you apply for the adsense, you need a web site that has content in it. Remember, sites with little content are unlikely to get accepted to display adsense ads. Also, your site need to comply with adsense rules and guidelines. Basically, these rules state that;

- You must be 18 years old or over.
- Your site must be functional: No broken links, easy to navigate, etc.
- Site content must be appropriate: No pornography, gambling, tobacco, weaponry, prescription drugs, etc.
- Site must not include excessive advertisements such as affiliate links. It is OK to have affiliate advertisements, but your site must not consist of just those affiliate banners.
- Language must be supported by adsense:
Chinese (simplified), Japanese, Danish, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, English, Polish, Finnish, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Swedish, Italian, Turkish. - Site must not display copyright materials (MP3).
- Site must not have similar ad types such as clicksor, bidvertiser, etc. This is a NO NO. Ads that have similar attributes to adsense are not allowed.
Also it is beneficial to get accepted by adsense, if your site is up and running for a while.
Time period to get accepted
It usually takes between 2 to 3 days. However, it might take a bit longer than that. If your site compiles with the rules and policies of adsense, it is likely to get accepted.
After accepted by adsense to display ads, the next challenge is to keep them up and running. In other words don't get banned. In my next post I will explain what actions would get you banned with adsense.
